A proposed new sustainable residential led mixed use community, including new homes and public space.
Welcome to Land at Brooklands Farm
What is Brooklands Farm?
The land at Brooklands Farm is a proposed allocation as part of the ‘Canterbury District Local Plan’ – Specifically policy W4.
The proposed scheme is for a new sustainable, residential led mixed use community, located to the south of Whitstable and south-west of Chestfield offering community facilities, shops, schools and improved transport connectivity routes.
To assist this process Hallam Land have held a public consultation event to provide opportunities for people to learn more about the proposal. The public consultation event included the opportunity for public to review the proposals on this website which has been open between 29th August 2024 to 27th September 2024. In addition, as part of the consultation process Hallam Land held 2 public drop-in sessions (Thursday 12th and Friday 13th September 2024, held at the WI Hall, 53 Chestfield Rd, Chestfield, Whitstable CT5 3LD), where the public were able to talk to representatives and discuss considerations for the development.

Next steps
We will take on all the feedback received during the public consultation event
We will undertake further consultation with community and stakeholders
We are looking to submit an outline planning application to support the emerging local plan. At the Canterbury Cabinet meeting on Monday 30 September 2024, a revised Local Development Scheme (LDS) was unanimously voted in favour by the Committee Members. This new LDS proposes the following outline timetable for the New Local Plan:
Autumn 2025 – Publication of the council’s final draft for approval by councillors and the launch of a six-week consultation under Regulation 19.
Spring 2026 – Subject to the decision above, submission to the Secretary of State.
